Cloth Diapers?
My husband was the first to recommend cloth diapers and my initial response was a quick and easy no. As the eldest of six kids, I had my share of shaking poop from cloth diapers, so I wasn’t interested. Plus, washing diapers equals more laundry and ain’t nobody got time for that.
Nevertheless, I remembered a friend of mine put cloth diapers on her baby registry a few years back and decided to do more research. At first I was overwhelmed because cloth diapering is not what it used to be. Let’s just say there’s options…lots of them. I can get into those in another post. But why did I decide to cloth diaper? Here are my top 3 reasons:
· Cost savings- I liked the idea of not having to buy diapers all the time
· Less chemical exposure- The reality is that we do not know what they put into those absorbent diaper layers.
· Environment-friendly- I like the idea of doing my part to keep some diapers out of the landfill.
They are also super cute, but thats not as important as the items I mentioned above. I have found a system that works best for us, which includes a mix of both cloth and disposable diapers.
Have you considered cloth diapers? Were they even on your radar?
